Inventory System

Post by Andrettin »

An inventory system is soon to come to Wyrmsun :) In the next patch, inventories will be made available for all persistent heroes (including custom ones), as well as regular Stonelords and Gryphon Riders. Heroes will now be able to carry healing potions with them - as well as equippable items. When AI units die, they will now have a chance to drop items like weapons and shields, which when equipped provide your hero with a bonus (replacing the bonus given by the equivalent technology upgrade).

Below is a screenshot of the custom hero Virfir with his unique throwing axe, Toporik:

That is certainly a nice idea!

Toporik? The dwarves now incorporate some Slavic elements now? :)

[Edit] Vasmer suggests that Slavic topor might be an Iranian borrowing.

"Toporik" is meant to represent the axe of Perun (an ancient Slavic deity). Since many scholars make an equivalency between the axe of Perun and Thor's hammer Mjollnir, and the latter was crafted by dwarves in Norse mythology, I thought it made sense to make it a dwarven item (specially since their scouts throw axes).

If there are dwarves in Slavic mythology that would be truly great, since it would allow for expanding the mythological background of the dwarves significantly.

Check Hammer of the Gods (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDAdlyftBrM), which is too based of mythology and has slavs represented by trolls/orcs
