This icon which Jinn had made seems reasonably fitting with the pagan priest:

Here's Jinn's icon modified to match the unit.

It doesn't necessarily have to be only a pagan priest, it could also be used for a generic priest (and a hooded monk variation used by all types of monks, and/or used for heretical or schismatic factions). One of the descriptions of St. Patrick which I've seen described him as having a staff with a curl on the end of it, maybe more of a spiral or something, but not much different from the sample sprite, so it wouldn't be much of a stretch. It could be given a black robe to be a necromancer if that kind of stuff is ever used, or a team color robe(instead of a team color belt) to be a sorcerer for fantasy scenarios. Another idea is that the hood could be removable, so that a particular type of tonsure would apply to an upgrade given to a monk who decides to upgrade in a particular way. For example, a basic priest might join an Eastern order of monks and receive the shaved head, getting upgrades slightly different from Celtic, or Roman orders, and in grand strategy mode the particular upgrade would only be available to whoever owns the province with the relevant monastery.

The modified icon looks quite nice =)

I suppose a necromancer would be more fitting for goblins and etc.? Although I would prefer to keep the game's setting more "low-magic" in regards to priest spells, without summoning of units from scratch, or casting fireballs and such. A necromancer could, instead of summoning skeletons, make corpses become explosive traps, or convert them into resources.

Having an individual upgrade for monks to choose from different orders could work, but then it would apply only to monk heroes or to the rare normal monks that manage to get enough experience to level-up. And I imagine that it would probably make more sense for monks to be able to choose an order without having to get experience first.

One idea is to have each different type of monk belong to different human civilizations. I just added to the development version of the game the possibility of having civilizations which have a "parent civilization", meaning that they get the units from their parent civilization if they lack that particular class of unit. So, for instance, there could be a "Celt" or "Irish" NPC civilization which is essentially a copy of the "Germanic" civilization, with the exception that it would have a different monk unit (with the Celtic tonsure).

They look very good!

The Celtic warrior fits very well with that culture, as it seems very close to depictions of Pictish warriors. I like the Orc worker's clothing (although perhaps since it is lightly-clothed, being shirtless, it might be more fitting for it to use sandals or be on bare foot instead of using shoes).

It's more like a kilt. The idea was to minimize labor by reusing the bottom half of the germanic coat as a loincloth/kilt type of thing. Removing shoes from the orc would be easy.
