Post by mvw »

Today, feb released Bos Wars 2.7.
It is available for download now.

It has been more than 3 years since the last release - a lot has been improved.

Thanks, feb, and all others that participated.

Have fun!
Michiel

EDIT: Download Bos Wars 2.7 for Windows here.

I'm also wondering how to play this on Windows. I found some instructions in the .zip download and I followed them, except I used VC++ 2010 instead of 2005. It almost worked, but when I try to run Bos Wars I get an error saying something like SDL.dll is missing from my system. I could have misunderstood the instructions about where to place SDL.dll and the other 2 folders in the download, but I'm not sure. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Your email doesn't seem to be visible on your profile. Can you email me at [email protected]?

Also I really think the Windows version of the game (and Mac version, if someone can port it) should be made available for download on the downloads page. Linux is easily a lot better in most ways, but few people run it, and making Bos Wars available to the more common operating systems would make it a lot more available to more players. If Smeet_the_Second made a Windows executable for the game, that can be zipped and added to the downloads page.

You'll need to download three items.
1) The source code for Bos Wars 2.7
2) http://www.boswars.org/dev/msvc-libs.zip
3) The attachment in this post

Extract the source code to its own directory and extract everything else into the root of the directory.

You should now have a folder called "boswars-2.7-src" in it you should have
1) boswars.exe
2) SDL.dll
3) a directory called lib
4) a directory called include
5) a whole mess of other files/folders

Some of these files/folders can probably be deleted, but I have yet to experiment with that.
