Old Sketches
Old Sketches
Does anyone know what happened with the old Aleona's Tale sketches? I remember there being a lot of them on the site. I might still have some of them on my computer somewhere, but if someone knows whether I can find all of them on the internet, that might save me the trouble of having to go through 4 terra of harddisks and backups (yes, I'm not very organized).
Re: Old Sketches
I spoke too soon,
here they are:

Sometimes I forget how useful google is!
Around five years ago me and a friend decided to make Aleona's Tale happen, we
drew multiple pictures: a hut, a library, an archery range, a castle and a spearman
(as well as icons for a few technologies), they weren't very good, but still more
credible than the graphics from Battle for Mandicor xD (oh, battle for mandicor!
such a great game!) Anyway, I'll see if I can find any of these pictures back, I'm
pretty sure I put the hut online somewhere, on the Wesnoth forum I think. I'll see
if I can still find it.
The sketches that were made for Aleona's Tales were sooo good. I want to see
some of those made into the game. Do you have any artists workin on this game
at the moment?
(Just to be clear: I'm not an artist, so I don't think I'll be able to do anything, but
I really want to see this game evolve).

Re: Old Sketches
Currently, I'm the only person that works on this. A certain Aussie was going to do some interface work though.Idanwin wrote:Do you have any artists workin on this game at the moment?
I alternate between a couple of projects. Lately I've been working more on School Wars then Aleona's Tales. The last thing I was doing for Aleona's Tales was improving the icons. You can see some of the progress towards that in the latest trunk.

Re: Old Sketches
I was snooping around those old sketches and found some interesting stuff: http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/gamedesigns/freecraft/
Does anyone have a way to use the png2freecraft tool linked there? The link to that tool seems unusable, but there is an archive of it here: http://web.archive.org/web/200607151930 ... freecraft/ But it looks more like source code or something than a usable application.
This tutorial could probably be added to the education section of the forum if it's not already there: http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/gamedes ... index.html, and this might be useful for some people as well: http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/gamedes ... elper.html
It's notable that there's a perspective tutorial but the finished products seem to have the wrong perspective. http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/gamedes ... x/gfx.html
