Re: Retouching Aleona's Tales Graphics

Battle for Mandicor has a few passable units:

The peasant sprite in particular is not that and has well placed player color areas.

Initial swamp tileset.

Mushroom sprite is based of GPL2 licensed mushrooms.png from Mana World MMORPG; Roots and terrain came from the public domain Daniel Harris "Hyptosis" tileset (http://opengameart.org/content/mage-city-arcanos)

Re: Retouching Aleona's Tales Graphics

Warcraft 2 uses so called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oblique_projection#Military_projection which is pretty close to isometric projection, used for most Wesnoth units. Re: Retouching Aleona's Tales Graphics

They don't seem to have the right perspective for a top-down game. Also, the rocks on that screenshot could use some fixing for more smooth transitions between adjacent tiles. Warcraft 2 uses so called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oblique_projection#Military_projection which is pretty close to iso...

Wesnoth includes a few high quality animated sprites, suitable for RTS games:

some directions are missing, but still suitable for an RTS game.

MrFlibble wrote:Hey, sorry for a belated reply! Thanks for the info! Do you know if there are any places to read more about the project (apart from anything that the Wayback Machine might have archived, that is)?
I advice you to contact Lutz Sammer and people involved with the project early on.
